Colostrum contains hundreds of components that nature has put there over millions of years of evolution, to ensure the survivability, health, strength, and vitality of the newborn. Colostrum for use as a dietary supplement is harvested from dairy cows, just the same as milk is harvested, however colostrum has to be pasteurized gently and with great care because it cannot withstand the rigorous pasteurization of milk. It needs to be emphasized that colostrum, and no other dietary supplement can claim to diagnose, prevent, treat or cure autoimmunity or any other disease, that is prohibited by governmental regulation, notwithstanding, those with autoimmunity may want to read the booklet, “Colostrum, a Journey Toward Better Health and Brighter Tomorrows” by Robert K. York, MD. I am personally familiar with Dr. York’s story because he was my family physician before he became so ill with fibromyalgia that he could no longer practice medicine. Even though he was himself a medical doctor, he could find no help in traditional medicine. Finally he decided to try colostrum and with it the quality of his life improved so dramatically that he wrote the booklet describing his journey toward better health and brighter tomorrows. The booklet is available online and costs about $6.00.
There are no known side effects with colostrum and it builds health in many ways. There is much to gain by trying it and nothing to lose.
Scientific Testimony
Because the public has a right to knowledge, and book burning was supposed to have gone out with the Salem witch hunts.
“The ability to stimulate or suppress the immune response is highly significant. Suppressing the immune system is necessary to prevent the immune system from attacking the body itself, as in the case of autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, MS, Alzheimer’s disease and allergies. Colostrum’s suppressive action may help prevent this type of activity involved in autoimmune diseases.” — Beth Ley, PhD Nutrition
“Colostrum contains a special Proline-Rich-Polypeptide (PRP) that serves as a powerful regulator of the immune system. PRP in colostrum increases the permeability of the skin vessels, which offers a regulatory activity, stimulating or suppressing the immune response.” — Staroscik
“Colostrum contains interlukin-10, which reduces inflammation caused by arthritis, infection or injury whether from surgery or trauma. Colostrum contains lactoferrin, which defends against infection and cancerous tumors and is anti-inflammatory.” “One of the major benefits of lactoferrin is its ability to reduce inflammation through the regulation of inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-1 (IL-1, Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF).” — Ley
“PRP from colostrum can work as a regulatory substance of the thymus gland. It has been demonstrated to improve or eliminate symptomatology of both allergies and autoimmune diseases (MS, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, myasthenia gravis). PRP inhibits the overproduction of lymphocytes and T-cells and reduces the major symptoms of allergies and autoimmune disease…” — Zoltan Rona, M.D., The American Journal of Natural Medicine, March 1998
“Several colostrum components stimulate wound healing. Nucleotides, EgF, TgF, and IgF-1 stimulate skin growth and cellular growth and repair by direction action on DNA and RNA. These growth factors facilitate the healing of tissues damaged by ulcers, trauma, burns, surgery, or inflammatory disease. Colostrum’s wound-healing properties specifically benefit the skin, muscle, cartilage, bone, and nerve cells.” — Zoltan Rona, M.D.
