EBV and Colostrum
There is no specific treatment for infectious mononucleosis, other than treating the symptoms, and no antiviral drugs or vaccines are available. - Center for Disease Control
EBV Means Lifetime Infection
According to the Center for Disease control up to 95% of Americans are infected with EBV. The symptoms usually last only a month or two, but the virus remains dormant or latent for the remainder of a person’s life, and can periodically reactivate. EBV is a suspected cause of CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and there is evidence that infection with EBV is associated with a higher risk of certain autoimmune diseases and cancers. There is no specific treatment for infectious mononucleosis, other than treating the symptoms, and no antiviral drugs or vaccines are available. The outcome with EBV therefore depends upon natural processes and primarily the immune system.
Colostrum and the Immune System
Immunity is defined as resistance to disease, specifically infectious disease. The collection of cells, tissues, and molecules that mediate resistance to infections is call the immune system, and the coordinated reaction of these cells and molecules to infectious microbes is the immune response. The immune system is hugely complex. Only God and nature completely understand the immune system. Colostrum, during an estimated 150 million years of mammalian existence, has been evolving as nature’s first dietary supplement, and awakens, strengthens, and balances the immune system and generally helps the body function as a complete, integrated, and optimized biosystem. All mammals, including humans, produce colostrum for the newborn. First comes colostrum and then comes milk. Colostrum, nature’s first dietary supplement was your first meal. Colostrum for use as a dietary supplement is harvested from dairy cows, after the newborn calves are given an amount ample for their health needs. Colostrum “understands” the immune system and how to integrate immune system function and overall health. There are no known side effects with colostrum and it is all natural. It makes sense to give nature a chance. Only colostrum harvested within six hours post-calving has all the healthful components in optimal levels. Highest quality Synertek colostrum from the first six hours post-calving is available at www.synertekcolostrum.com.
The Science
“Colostrum contains leukocytes, lactoferrin, lysozyme, and all of the immunoglobulins: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, and IgM. These components together combat bacteria, viruses, and yeast. Colostrum contains cytokines, lymphokines, and proline-rich polypeptides. These components work together to initiate the immune response, and regulate the intensity and duration of it… Without optimal immune protection we are susceptible to conditions ranging from the common cold, the flu, various stages of immune deficiency, cancer and even AIDS.” — Beth Ley, PhD, COLOSTRUM: Nature’s Gift to the Immune System)
“Bovine colostrum is biologically transferable to all mammals, including humans. It is much higher in immune factors than human mother’s colostrum. Laboratory analyses of immune and growth factors from bovine colostrum are identical to those found in human colostrum, except that the levels of these factors are significantly higher in the bovine version… Immunoglobulins (A, D, E, G, and M) are the most abundant of the immune factors found in colostrum. IgG neutralizes toxins and microbes in the lymph and circulatory system. IgM destroys bacteria, while IgE and EgD are highly antiviral.” — Dr. Zoltan Rona, American Journal of Natural Medicine
“PRP, in bovine colostrum, has the same ability to regulate activity of the immune system as (do the) hormones of the thymus gland. It activates an underactive immune system, helping it move into action against disease-causing organisms.”— Drs. Staroscik et. Al., Molecular Immunology
“Immune factors in cow colostrum, when taken orally, are effective against disease-causing organisms in the intestinal tract. Ingestion of bovine colostrum’s immuoglobulins may be a new method of providing passive immunoprotection against a host of gut-associated disease-causing antigens (viral and bacterial).” — Dr. R. McClead, et al., Pediatrics Research
